Do you have an item that needs fixing?

When you arrive with an item for repair, one of our hosts will ask you to fill out a repair form and direct you to the relevant repairer.

Depending on when you arrive and the number of volunteer repairers available, there may be a short wait, but we do our best to keep waiting times to a minimum. If you do have a little wait, you can have a cuppa and a chat.

When the relevant repairer is available, you will be invited to sit with them and watch the repair taking place and even help with the repair if you would like, so it’s also a chance for you to learn how to do it yourself.

If a part is needed to complete the repair, the repairer will give you the details of the exact part needed and likely cost so that you can order it and return at another date for the repair to be done.

Electrical items will be PAT tested before leaving the Repair Café.

If items are irreparable, the repairer will explain the reasons and give advice on the safest and easiest way for you to dispose of it.

Can you fix things?

Our volunteers fix things or show people how to fix things that would otherwise be thrown away. In doing so, they are sharing their skills and helping to save the planet.

We are always looking for like-minded people who have the skills and passion for repairing things, including clothes, household electrics, bicycles, toys, furniture, wooden items, jewellery, clocks, and watches and technology

Although many of our volunteers are experts, a lot are simply people who like fixing things and tinkering. If you have a skill or love to fix thing and would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you.

Other volunteer opportunities Not all our volunteers are hands-on fixers. We have volunteers who like to organize, help with administration, support the marketing, and who welcome visitors as they arrive with an item to repair

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, share skills, learn new ones, and help others. Whatever your reason for volunteering, we would love to hear from you.
